What is Center of Hope?
The Salvation Army Center of Hope provides an alternative to the streets or parks and offers a safe and healthy environment to support the work of addressing the multiple causes of homelessness. The shelters help men and women develop and implement realistic personal goals that lead to employment, housing, and self sufficiency.
We are located at 831 S. Brook; the campus is across the street from the Louisville Area Command. The Center of Hope serves homeless men and women (shelters), serves meals each day of the year in a dining hall that’s connected to a multipurpose room that’s used for devotions and emergency shelter during dangerously cold times of the year. The Center of Hope offers case management to its clients, offers employment opportunities, a clothing closet, in addition to utility assistance and a food warehouse. The Center of Hope also has a 10-week culinary training program instructed by a professional chef to provide the homeless with nutritious meals while also offering job skills to those who want to work in the culinary arts. The program has been featured in various local media and on the cable network, CNN.
